Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an evidence-based approach that helps clients build a life worth living by balancing acceptance with change strategies. This therapy is offered for individuals of all ages and can be adapted to support all abilities and learning styles. Through a structured process, clients progress from reducing self-destructive behaviors and processing difficult emotions to experiencing lasting joy and fulfillment.

In DBT, you will explore:

  • Mindfulness
  • Emotional regulation
  • Distress tolerance
  • Interpersonal effectiveness

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)

REBT is an evidence-based approach that teaches that it’s not events themselves that disturb us, but the beliefs we hold about those events. By changing the way you think, you can change the way you feel and act. This practical, skills-based therapy can be adapted for individuals, couples, or groups, and supports lasting resilience.

In REBT, you’ll learn to:

  • Develop a philosophy of living that promotes long-term well-being
  • Notice unhelpful thoughts (such as “I must be perfect” or “People have to treat me fairly”)
  • Challenge those beliefs in a constructive way
  • Replace them with more realistic and empowering perspectives

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

ERP is the gold-standard treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, offered at Wisely for individuals of all ages. It combines two parts: (1) Exposure to gradually facing the thoughts, situations, or images that trigger obsessions, and (2) Response Prevention or resisting the compulsive behaviors or rituals that usually follow. We guide clients through ERP while teaching them to create their own exposure plans, empowering them to handle challenges as they arise. We pair ERP with complementary therapies and take a systemic approach by addressing family accommodation or ways loved ones may unintentionally reinforce symptoms.

Through ERP, clients learn:

  • Scary thoughts lose their power and control
  • Anxiety, discomfort, and urges naturally rise and fall
  • Rituals aren’t needed to stay safe

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from trauma, distressing life experiences, and anxiety-related conditions. Using guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds), EMDR allows the brain to reprocess painful memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or disruptive.

At Wisely, clients of all ages can benefit from EMDR. Many find that this approach helps them:

  • Restore a greater sense of calm, safety, and resilience
  • Reduce the intensity of distressing memories
  • Break free from cycles of avoidance and reactivity
  • Build healthier emotional and behavioral patterns

Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD

Prolonged Exposure is a leading evidence-based treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It helps clients gradually and safely face memories, feelings, and situations they have been avoiding due to trauma. With guided practice, clients learn that while these reminders may be distressing, they are not dangerous, and avoidance only keeps PTSD symptoms strong.

PE is usually delivered over about 8–15 sessions, typically 90 minutes each, depending on each client’s needs.

At Wisely, we support clients through this structured process by helping them:

  • Reclaim a greater sense of control, safety, and freedom in daily life
  • Confront and reprocess traumatic memories in a safe, supported way
  • Reduce avoidance of people, places, and activities that feel triggering
  • Lessen distress connected to trauma reminders over time

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)

Mindful Self-Compassion is a research-based program that helps people meet life’s challenges with more balance, kindness, and resilience. At Wisely, we weave MSC into our therapeutic work, and we also offer MSC courses that are open to all. Our 8-week MSC course is non-clinical, meaning that anyone from any location can join! 

Through MSC, participants learn to:

  • Practice mindfulness → reducing over-identification with challenges
  • Offer self-kindness → reducing harsh self-judgment
  • Embrace common humanity → reducing feelings of isolation

These practices foster greater self-acceptance, resilience, and overall well-being.
